Welsh Railways

Wales has one of Britain's most varied railway networks, ranging from busy commuter routes around Cardiff to remote rural lines and world-famous narrow-gauge railways.

6 stations

Transport for Wales operates the bulk of the modern network, linking Cardiff Central, Newport, Swansea, Aberystwyth, Bangor and Holyhead. The Cambrian Line and the Heart of Wales Line are some of the most scenic in Britain.

Wales is also the heritage railway capital of the UK, with the Ffestiniog, Welsh Highland, Talyllyn and Vale of Rheidol railways all preserving narrow-gauge steam history. Together they're known as the Great Little Trains of Wales.
